How to Do INBOUND Solo

How to Do INBOUND Solo

So, you’re heading to INBOUND solo? Whether it’s your first time attending or you’re tenth, going it alone can be a game-changer for your professional journey.

Traveling to Boston by yourself is an opportunity to experience INBOUND in a way that’s completely tailored to you—but we get it, flying solo can be a little daunting, so we’re offering some tips and resources to help you connect, learn, and thrive on your own.

THE PRE-EVENT PREP

Plan your schedule with purpose. Start by downloading the mobile app if you haven’t already and begin curating your must-attend sessions. Search for topics that align with your personal growth, networking, and skills development goals so that you’ll hit the ground running with a clear agenda that you’re excited about.

Join the INBOUND community early — in the mobile app, start searching for new connections and initiate 1:1 conversations to get the conversation going before INBOUND even begins. Connect.com will have a dedicated community for attendees. When you create a profile, you’ll have space here to meet with like-minded professionals, get to know fellow-attendees, access new contacts you’ve made, and more.

Pack strategically and don’t forget the essentials like portable chargers, snacks, and comfortable shoes. Need some packing inspo? Check out our INBOUND Starter Pack for the lowdown on everything you need to bring.

MAXIMIZE OPPORTUNITIES TO CONNECT

Networking solo can be intimidating, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. Leverage the Power-Up lounges and Meetups for organic connections. If you’re attending smaller breakout sessions, use that as an opportunity to chat about common interest topics and takeaways from the session.

When lunchtime rolls around, don’t retreat to your own space — take advantage of the food trucks and open setting at Lawn on D, sit at a table with other attendees and introduce yourself! Be open to spontaneity and embrace the freedom to wander, explore, and pivot without needing group consensus.

Use social media as a networking tool. Live-post about your favorite sessions and takeaways using event hashtags (#INBOUND24) and engage with speakers and attendees on different channels.

From Meetups to hidden networking gems, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to build relationships that last. Get more of our networking tips here.

ENGAGE WITH SPONSOR BOOTHS

Although the swag is always a plus, sponsor booths at INBOUND are so much more than a spot to pick up freebies. Approach them with a strategic mindset—these are prime spots for valuable conversations. Engage with booth staff to learn about the latest tools and technologies that could benefit your work. They’re also a great place to meet other attendees who are exploring the booths. You can search for sponsors in the mobile app ahead of time to see planned activations, giveaways, and other special experiences.

Many sponsors will be offering live demos and presentations—join to learn something new and connect with others interested in the same topics!

SOCIAL EVENTS

Throughout INBOUND, there will be plenty of after hours dinners, receptions, and social events that are perfect for meeting new faces and continuing the conversation with people you’ve met throughout each day. Check out some of the events happening.

Going solo at INBOUND is an opportunity for growth, new connections, inspiration. With these tips and resources you can maximize your experience and thrive at INBOUND on your own.
